As a Senior Development Planner, you will play a pivotal role in managing and promoting our strategic land cycle, from identification to sale. We are looking for an individual with energy, drive, and ambition—someone who can work effectively with consultants, landowners, and local planning authorities to deliver results and meet deadlines. Strong communication skills, effective management, prioritization abilities, and excellent negotiation and networking skills are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the planning and promotion of strategic land projects.
  • Conduct comprehensive site appraisals and feasibility studies.
  • Prepare and submit planning applications and appeals.
  • Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and consultants.
  • Monitor and influence local planning policies and frameworks.
  • Provide expert advice on planning and development matters.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Identify and assess potential development sites.
  • Manage key projects through the promotion process.
  • Prepare submissions and reports for landowners, agents, and internal teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with consultants, local authorities, and landowners.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or equivalent.
  • Experience in a similar role, ideally within the private sector.
  • Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation and policy.
  • Proven track record of managing successful planning applications and appeals.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.

Our Offer:

We are passionate about our people and committed to your career development. You will have access to our People Development team and the opportunity to pursue your personal development goals. We fully support you in undertaking training and education to help achieve your objectives.

We offer a competitive and progressive benefits package to support you both inside and outside of work:

  • Competitive salary with a commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and gender pay parity.
  • Car allowance and access to electric and hybrid vehicle leasing via our salary sacrifice scheme.
  • Bonus scheme to share in the company’s financial success.
  • Pension plan provided by AVIVA to invest in your future.
  • Life assurance based on multiples of your salary.
  • Digital GP app for health concerns, available to you and your family.
  • Agile working and flexibility to maintain work-life balance for important life events.
  • 26 days of annual leave, with the option to buy more.
  • Company closure between Christmas and New Year without using annual leave.
  • Enhanced parental leave pay for any parental leave you take.
  • Career development support, with internal talent development opportunities.
  • Cycle to Work salary sacrifice scheme, including access to e-bikes.
  • Employee Assistance Programme for external support.

This is an excellent opportunity to advance your career while working in a supportive environment with a clear focus on your development and well being.
