Job Title: Senior Town Planner
Location: Cheltenham
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 DOE
Role Overview:
An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Town Planner to join a leading planning consultancy in Cheltenham. The successful candidate will be integral in delivering a variety of planning projects, providing expert advice, and ensuring high-quality planning solutions for clients. This is a great chance for career development in a friendly and dynamic team environment. They are also considering Principal Town Planners for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead planning applications and development proposals from inception to approval.
- Offer expert planning advice on residential, commercial, and mixed-use development projects.
- Manage and prepare planning submissions, including applications, appeals, and representations.
- Liaise and coordinate with clients, local authorities, statutory consultees, and other key stakeholders.
- Prepare detailed planning reports and supporting documents for applications and appeals.
- Conduct site appraisals and feasibility studies, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Support and mentor junior planners, assisting in their professional growth.
- Stay updated on changes in planning legislation, policies, and best practices.
- Maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of service.
- Represent planning interests in meetings with clients and local authorities.
Skills & Experience:
- RTPI membership (or working towards) is essential.
- Proven experience in town planning with a solid understanding of the UK planning system.
- Demonstrated ability to manage planning applications and lead projects across multiple sectors.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in development management and strategic planning is a plus.
- Comprehensive knowledge of local planning policy and legislation.
- Full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle.
