The senior planner will work within a team of planning officers to process and determine complex and major applications, including EIA development.  The post-holder will liaise with applicants, councillors, members of the public and consultees to deliver the best results for development in Norwich by determining applications, offering pre-application advice and explaining the development management process.  The post-holder will support managers to deliver service improvements across the team as well as supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team.

 

The senior planner will be able to:-

  • work independently at a senior level to deliver the statutory development management function. Providing advice and support to members of the public and developers concerning all aspects of the development management process.
  • investigate unauthorised developments and participate in the enforcement process.
  • work at a senior level to deliver the spatial planning policy function through the development of strategies, policies and guidance which support the shared community vision and the regeneration and sustainable growth of Norwich.
  • assist in the supervision and training of Planners and the occasional co-ordination and allocation of workload to the rest of the team.
  • provide a customer focused service for internal and external customers which is focused on excellent delivery, service improvement and maximising efficiency.
  • contribute to the delivery of an effective and focussed Planning and Regulatory service for the council.
