The work you will be doing
Working in our busy Planning Applications team at Swale, you will need to be enthusiastic and conscientious, with the ability to assess planning applications, advertisement, listed buildings, Tree Preservation Orders, and other statutory applications as required communstarte to grade. You will be required to provide development advice to householders, agents, developers, and landowners.
You will also be responsible for preparing and presenting the Council’s case at appeals, inquiries, hearings, Court Hearings and Examinations in Public commensurate to grade; and will support the preparation and presentation of reports to member Working Groups and Committees as required.
What you will bring to this role
You will hold an appropriate undergraduate degree/diploma. You should be a member of the RTPI or working towards full membership of RTPI or RICS.
You should have proven experience of cross-team working both internally and externally, with the ability to develop relationships and share knowledge, ideas and expertise and best practice to achieve outcomes. You should be able to demonstrate the ability to work with members and parish councils.
Ability to undertake independent travel around the Borough is essential.

Mid Kent Services is a partnership between Swale, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells borough councils. It was formed in 2008, and means the councils work together to reduce costs and improve service delivery and resilience. The partnership delivers a number of fully shared services, and the partners work together on shared procurement exercises and contract monitoring arrangements (like waste and recycling services) and have some shared management arrangements.
