Senior Planning Officer
Helmsley, North Yorkshire (with some travel within the National Park)

We are now looking for a Senior Planning Officer to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Role

As our Senior Planning Officer, you will support the delivery of our Development Management Service, handling a caseload of planning applications and proposals.

Working as part of an area team led by a Planning Team Leader, you will ensure developments within the National Park are sustainable and help to support the delivery of our targets and standards.

You will manage your own caseload, carry out site inspections and negotiations with applicants, their agents and specialist staff and prepare reports and recommendations.

Additionally, you will:

- Present to the Planning Committee and at Member site inspections
- Prepare statements for planning appeals
- Present evidence at hearings and public enquiries
- Help to prepare plans and policies for development management
- Liaise with external bodies and organisations
- Deputise for the Development Management Team Leader

About You

To be considered as our Senior Planning Officer, you will need:

- Post qualification experience in Development Management
- Experience of working successfully with local communities
- A degree level qualification
- Eligibility to become a full member of the Royal Town Planning Institute
- A full, valid driving licence
