Planning Officer

Full-time (37 hours per week) – Temporary to 31.03.26

£36,342 - £39,466 per annum (inclusive of 13.3% Market Supplement)

North Kesteven District Council is seeking an experienced planning professional to join the Development Management team. This post puts you at the heart of a high profile planning team which is implementing an ambitious growth and place-shaping agenda but set around the core principles of delivering net zero carbon development in Central Lincolnshire.

Job Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited RTPI degree in planning studies or RTPI accreditation through experience
  • Minimum 1 years’ post-qualification experience in Local Authority Development Management or equivalent private sector practice
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and an ability to demonstrate political and professional sensitivity and awareness

​​​​​​Key Responsibilities: 

  • Managing a varied caseload comprising mainly of small-scale housing and commercial development proposals and pre-application enquiries  across the District 
  • Assisting Senior Officers in the delivery of major strategic projects
  • Prioritising and managing workloads to meet legislative timescales and deadlines.

  • Highly organised, confident and conscientious
  • The ability to maintain a positive working relationship with elected members
  • Evidence of the capability to work alone or with minimal supervision to apply, weight and resolve material planning considerations appropriately

You will be required to apply a high level of attention to detail when carrying out this role, to support the delivery of the Development Management service at a professional level and show an appreciation of the contribution local government can make to the welfare of the people living, working, and visiting the district.  If you feel you have what it takes, this could be the role for you.
