Are you looking for a dynamic and exciting place to work?  We are busy planning office in North Oxfordshire dealing with a huge range of developments including a Garden Town, the expansion of Oxford, a new settlement on a Cold War site, Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, and numerous urban extensions.  We are also producing a new Local Plan.

We are looking to recruit to bolster our Planning and Development resource to meet demand and improve the services we provide.

We have three service areas: Planning Policy, Conservation & Design; Development Management and Building Control & Flood Risk.   The Council has parallel services focusing on the delivery of the Bicester Garden Town, a vision for Banbury, economic growth, and strategic transport.

With its growing towns, its location on the Oxford-Cambridge region, its proximity to Oxford on the M40 corridor and its location on major rail lines including East/West rail, Cherwell receives significant investment and development interest. We also have highly attractive rural areas and places to live.

The Job:

Cherwell District Council’s busy Development Management team needs bright, enthusiastic and dynamic individuals to make a difference to our Planning service and to lead/take responsibility for the processing and determination of a wide variety of application types.

With innovative and large-scale housing developments such as the country’s largest self-build community at Graven Hill, the exemplar zero-carbon development at Northwest Bicester, and the redevelopment of a former Cold War airbase, Cherwell is committed to doing things differently.

 

The Person:

If you are an enthusiastic and ambitious Planner, passionate about delivering well-planned sustainable communities, you could be what we’re looking for.  We want customer focused people who embody our ambitions for a high quality, efficient and value for money development management service.  You will need to be a self-starter who works quickly, accurately, and flexibly.
