The Broads is an internationally important and protected wetland environment with status equivalent to a national park. The area is of special value for its wildlife and landscape beauty and for its important navigation interest.

Our Planning department is a small friendly team, with a good service record and high ambitions. We are seeking a dedicated and motivated planning professional to join the Strategic Services Directorate as Head of Planning, and play a key leading role in the Planning team.

As Head of Planning, you will shape the future of the Broads Authority’s planning function to ensure it supports the organisation in a public-focused and proactive way. You will have regular interactions with Broads Authority Members and should be confident operating in a political arena.

You will provide leadership for the Broads Authority on planning policy, development management, enforcement, historic environment, arboricultural, archaeological and landscape matters, and planning administration.

You will need to have experience of working in a planning function, including dealing with enforcement matters. You will hold a membership to a relevant professional qualification. To be successful in the role, you will bring experience of managing a team as part of an efficient and customer-focused planning service.
