We are looking for a passionate, experienced and enthusiastic heritage professional to join our multi-disciplinary Urban Design and Heritage Team.

You will be responsible for implementing a wide range of statutory work, including processing, assessing and advising on applications for listed building consent and related planning permissions; drafting and monitoring conditions; as well as involvement in appeals and preparing and presenting committee reports. 

In addition, you will be responsible for heritage related projects, supporting enforcement officers investigating and taking action on unauthorised works to historic buildings, and providing heritage advice to colleagues, elected members and the general public. 

You will have experience of providing specialist conservation advice in a UK local authority, involving negotiation with applicants, agents and other stakeholders. You will be qualified in Historic Conservation or another relevant built environment subject. 

Good interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills are essential as is the ability to deliver high quality advice in a timely manner and efficiently manage a high caseload. A good working knowledge of historic building development and construction and the relevant legislation, planning policy and guidance are required.
