Full time, 37 hours per week, permanent. Blended working available. Hertford, Hertfordshire. Closing date 27th November 2023.

We’re seeking a Strategic Site Team Leader to be a lynchpin of our planning activity and support over 100,000 residents of East Hertfordshire in the growth and advancement of our district.
If you’re an expert planning professional with team management experience, this is a fantastic opportunity to join our council’s Planning Service.

The Role

As the Strategic Sites Team Leader, you will support the delivery of our Planning Service by managing the day-to-day operations of the Strategic Applications Team.

Specifically, you will oversee effective service delivery by ensuring your team accurately process major planning applications in line with relevant legislation, policies and national targets. 

Providing effective staff management, you will support training and development, oversee performance reviews, assist with recruitment and ensure the team remain motivated.

Additionally, you will:

- Ensure affordable housing is secured within agreements
- Provide stakeholders with clear information, reports and briefs
- Support the delivery of the public consultation process

About You

To be considered as a Strategic Site Team Leader, you will need:

- Experience of supporting or managing a team within a Development Management context
- Significant experience of processing and defending large scale planning decisions
- Experience of determining planning applications under delegated authority
- Experience of presenting applications to Development Management Committees
- Knowledge of administrative and legal procedures of planning control in Local Government
- At minimum a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
- Full membership of a relevant professional body such as Royal Town Planning Institute
