Job Details

We are seeking an experienced planner to join our new Strategic Applications Team. You will be one of two Principals, reporting to the Strategic Applications Team Leader working on large scale major projects. You will come with experience of successfully managing a varied caseload, including significant major applications experience. You will have a proven track record in meeting targets, negotiating complex S106 agreements and providing excellent customer service in dealing with pre-application enquiries, PPAs and third parties.

You will also be one of UDC's two leads in defending the council's major appeals and will have experience of appearing as an expert witness at public inquiry.

You will be able to provide support and mentoring to junior members of the Development Management Team and deputise for the Team Leader in their absence. You will require a relevant degree and membership, or eligibility, for membership of the RTPI. The role would suit someone looking to lead on large scale major applications, both housing and commercial, and is looking to move into management positions longer term. Some experience of major airport-related development would be advantageous.
