Our mission at Oxfordshire County Council is simple – we want to enhance the incredible potential that already exists within the county in order to sustain thriving communities and a growing economy. As it is, we contribute more than £7 billion gross to the national economy every year – and with more jobs than residents, that figure is set to grow.

We are looking for a Planning Officer to play a key role in ensuring that new development protects the environment and Oxfordshire’s communities.

About the role

As part of the council's Development Management team, you will be responsible for processing planning applications for minerals, waste and Regulation 3 applications. You will also be responsible for related pre- application engagement including preparation of Screening Opinions for Environmental Impact Assessment. The role is temporary for 18 months to cover a secondment.

About you

You will have a degree or equivalent qualification in Town and Country Planning or related discipline, experience of working in Development Management planning, and good knowledge of relevant planning legislation and policy.

We are proud of our strong flexible working culture, including the opportunity for flexibility on working hours and the use of technology to support agile working. We offer some of the best learning and development opportunities to support your ongoing development.

We have a generous holiday allowance which rises as you remain in employment with us up to 32 days, as well as giving you the option to buy additional holiday.
