Your new role

You will be tasked with processing a wide range of planning applications and being the main point of contact for planning advice on all planning issues associated with any given development. You will be responsible for ensuring applications received are assessed under relevant local and national planning legislation in accordance with Ealing's statutory obligations, policies and good practice. You will provide pre-application advice to applicants on the suitability of proposed schemes, whilst promoting Ealing's approach to sustainable development and stakeholder engagement. Planning applications dealt with will range from the basic through to larger strategic schemes, which will require you to consider a variety of complex planning issues relating to heritage, urban design and sustainability, whilst balancing the needs of community engagement and the local democratic process. You will be required to develop effective working relationships with development partners, consultants and the internal teams involved in successful project delivery and will have a keen understanding of the development process as a whole.

What you'll need to succeed

Ideally you will have a degree in in Town Planning or a RTPI equivalent subject, have a proven track record of handling a range of development management applications and will have a detailed knowledge of working with planning legislation and relevant policy, in addition, you will be people focused, providing our broad range of customer excellent service regarding discussions, negotiations and responsiveness. You will be IT proficient and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
