The London Plan (2021) provides a framework for more inclusive growth in the City. This forms part of an exciting planning agenda for the delivery of sustainable development and tackling London’s housing crisis by increasing the provision of affordable housing.

The GLA has an established in-house expert Viability Team based within the Strategic Planning Team, to advise the Mayor on viability matters in plan and decision making.

You will be an experienced expert development viability advisor at the frontline of affordable housing delivery within the planning and development system. You will have excellent planning negotiation skills and a track record of success in either the private or public sectors.

Preferably with expert experience in large scale residential and mixed-use developments, you will have skill and competency in all aspects of development economics and viability and a thorough understanding of the housing market, affordable housing and planning system, including viability assessments and Section 106 agreements.

You will advise the Mayor of London working alongside other members of the Planning and Viability Teams on referable planning applications and related policy and guidance. You will draw on your skills, knowledge and experience to ensure the robust assessment of viability and support the delivery of affordable housing and sustainable development across London.

Please ensure your supporting statement clearly addresses the only the technical requirements as outlined in the person specification criteria (behavioural competencies will be tested at interview).

This role will be based at London Fire Brigade’s Head Office (Union Street SE1 0LL).  GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share.

In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme.
