Job Details

An entry-level position has arisen for a junior Town Planner in Buckinghamshire.

You may be a Planning Masters graduate looking for your first position or to step into the private sector, or you may still be completing your Masters and looking to start your first job in the coming months. Either way, my client is looking for a bright and ambitious candidates looking to forge a career in planning consultancy, and the decision on who to employ will be as much about personality and spark as academic background.

You will be joining this small consultancy group, with three offices nationwide, at a great time in their history. They are busier than ever and have a fantastic client base with a wide variety of projects to sink your teeth into. As a valued member of a close-knit team, your professional knowledge will be utilised from day one and you will be actively involved in all stages of projects - not just handed the bits of work that no-one else wants to do! You will be closely supported, mentored and trained ensuring you have every opportunity to build a strong set of consultancy skills that will give you the best possible start to your career.

Projects span large residential extensions, strategic promotions, mixed use developments, retail sites, pubs, leisure and hotels and rural/agricultural work often involving heritage and conservation considerations. Typical tasks will include research, assisting with the production of tender documents and presentations, site visits and assisting with appraisals, writing reports and inputting into application documents, managing the applications process ensuring it runs smoothly, communicating with planning officers, clients and other key stakeholders, attending planning committee and supporting the appeal process.

The role will be varied and exciting with no two days ever feeling the same. You will naturally be expected to work hard but you will be well rewarded with a competitive entry level salary  (£25k - £27k) that will quickly rise as you progress through your APC towards chartered membership of the RTPI. You will require a full driving licence and access to your own car but you will receive mileage payments at HMRC rates. The company offer a good amount of holiday, and better than average pension scheme and the opportunity to earn bonuses twice annually based on a combination of your success and that of the company as a whole.
