Bracknell Forest is a Unitary Authority situated in an area facing continuing growth pressures. Exciting large-scale housing developments are now coming forward and we have a regenerated town centre with new retail outlets, homes, restaurants and leisure facilities. The delivery of strategic residential developments and associated infrastructure is integral to the Council's vision to create sustainable new communities that meet our housing needs. We are seeking a Senior Planning Officer to play a key role in delivering these schemes. You will gain valuable experience and play a key role in helping us create new places we can be proud of.

What it's like working in our team...



We are a friendly and busy team responsible for delivering strategic sites and providing urban design advice to development management officers. Work is often challenging, but the role is highly rewarding, requiring the coordination and delivery of some of the borough's larger complex residential-led development sites, to achieve planning policy objectives. The work is very varied, requires vision and creative design solutions, with each day presenting new challenges.

You will be supported to carry out the following duties, responsibilities and training...



The role is within the Council's Planning Division. You will support the Major Sites Implementation Manager in working proactively with applicants and other internal and external stakeholders to secure the delivery of strategic development sites, and related infrastructure. The role requires appraising and making recommendations on planning applications, project managing the delivery of infrastructure, undertaking any associated appeals and responding to pre-application enquiries. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with good communication skills to provide advice to users of our service, including developers, agents and members of the public in relation to housing developments. The successful candidate will work in the Strategic Sites and Design Team, and will gain valuable experience in the delivery of complex development sites.
