Job Details

The current focus for the special projects team is the delivery of the Ipswich Garden Suburb, which is a 3,500-dwelling mixed-use scheme. A master plan is in place and the outline permissions for more than half the houses have been granted. Initial phases have reserved matters’ consent, and houses are now being built. This is therefore an ideal time to join our team and play a key role in delivering the project and having a positive influence on the quality of the development as we move into the detailed planning stages for the next phases of development.

The role offers invaluable experience of larger, strategic projects within a small close-working team dedicated to dealing with large-scale projects. The work is varied and will include the monitoring of condition details and S106 obligations to ensure requirements have been met, as well as contributing to strategic planning work. The workload may vary and involve working on other large or complex projects as and when needed. This is a unique chance to gain broad experience of strategic development and make a real difference.

You will be an enthusiastic and proactive Town Planner, holding a degree or postgraduate diploma or NVQ level 6 in planning or a relevant field plus 3 years qualitative experience. You will also have effective project management skills and a real desire to shape and improve the built environment. The role will require a skilled communicator who has experience of dealing effectively with a range of stakeholders. You will have experience of handling a broad range of complex development proposals within tight deadlines.

This post offers a range of benefits including:

  • flexible working hours
  • hybrid working, with set time in the office
  • payment of annual RTPI membership subscriptions
  • relocation policy
  • childcare subsidy
  • green travel plan offering reduced public transport tickets and use of pool cars and bikes for business use around the Borough.
