Principal Planners x2 (Development Management) PO4: £39,571 - £42,614 p.a. (Pay Award Pending)  

This is a rare opportunity to help facilitate development in one of the most vibrant and fastest growing cities in the UK. We are recruiting experienced planners to help us deal with significant and high-profile schemes to achieve high quality, sustainable development. The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate they have the skills and experience from the outset to handle such applications confidently and successfully, with minimum supervision, but within a supportive environment.

You will be responsible for managing major proposals through the planning system and making sound recommendations to managers or Plans Panel (Committee) for decision.   You will require need to keep elected members, MPs, and customers appropriately informed on planning matters and deliver a high level of customer care.  You will also be required to liaise closely with colleagues in all areas of the Council, other authorities, public bodies and private organisations to deliver our services effectively. You will have authority to determine applications dealt with by colleagues,  and be involved in the supervision of other staff within the team. 

The service has adopted a hybrid working model, with staff operating from home and from a modern office environment within the City Centre. It will be an advantage if you are able to drive.
