Penguin Recruitment is proud to be representing one of the world's leading multi-disciplinary consultancies in their search for a Senior Planner to join their thriving Planning & Environmental team in London.

The team is one of the UK's leading consultancies, securing consents for major infrastructure schemes and a thought-leader in the field of planning, economics and international development. They provide strategic planning advice in the UK to central Government and its agencies, local enterprise partnerships, local authorities, combined authorities and the private sector. They also work with colleagues leading international development work with international financing institutions and government bodies.

In this role you will help provide planning support for clients including HS2, Homes England, National Highways, National Grid, Network Rail, the World Bank, Thames Water, Environment Agency and a range of local authorities.

As such, I am looking to hear from Senior Planners with a real passion for planning and the skills to deliver transformative, high-quality infrastructure, development and regeneration. The position requires a Chartered Planner, who combines an excellent track record in town planning with experience in providing advice to our key markets in the development and regeneration, energy, transport, and water sectors.

Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of TCPA/DCO/Highways Act/Hybrid applications including writing supporting planning documents
  • Negotiation of planning submissions through the consenting process
  • Managing project inputs from a range of disciplines working across the firm
  • Carrying out strategic planning research and policy development including policy analysis, assessments of development potential, local plan support and evidence
  • Providing planning advice to external and internal clients
  • Managing client communication, reporting and stakeholder consultation
  • Managing projects, including financial management
  • Assisting in the identification and management of project or tender opportunities, including collaborating with colleagues to win work
  • Resource allocation in liaison with the regional team leader
  • Provide mentoring to junior staff to help the team develop

Requirements:
  • A relevant town planning degree and Chartered RTPI membership (or related / equivalent qualifications / professional membership)
  • A sound, in-depth knowledge of planning policy, law and procedures, including the changing planning system at national and local levels
  • Relevant experience of working in planning practice would be an advantage, with a good working knowledge from either a private sector consultant/developer or local authority perspective
  • Experience in the management and delivery of multi-disciplinary planning projects, including working alongside and coordinating a range of technical specialists providing input into planning submissions
  • Commercial awareness and business development skills would be advantageous.

Why Apply?

My client is widely acknowledged for offering unparallelled opportunities for talented individuals in search of a rewarding career, and has won many awards including The Times '25 Best Big Companies to Work For'.

In return for your expertise and hard work, my client will provide an attractive salary and benefits package that includes:
  • Paid overtime
  • Flexible working.
  • Options to buy additional annual leave.
  • Paid memberships.
  • Training budgets.
  • And so much more…..
