Ref: HCAA00940

Site Inspections Officer (plus Planning Apprenticeship opportunity)

As Site Inspections Officer, you will be responsible for visiting sites across the borough in order to investigate all reports of alleged breaches of planning control; recording your findings (taking measurements/taking photographs/consulting with owners and occupiers); and then advising the Planning Enforcement team of your findings. You will also be responsible for starting formal enforcement investigations and assisting in those where appropriate.

You will have excellent organisational skills, an eye for detail, and exceptional verbal and written communication skills; and will be able to gain access to some sites by ladder or scaffolding. Where a planning degree is not currently held, you will also be encouraged to apply to, and will be fully supported whilst obtaining the Chartered Town Planner degree apprenticeship in partnership with London South Bank University. This scheme allows an apprentice to study for an RTPI accredited qualification and undertake work-based learning to become a Chartered Town Planner (one day a week, fully paid). The course will take between 3 and 6 years depending on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about the built environment at an innovative and vibrant borough.

We have achieved a huge amount: our services, our schools, our public spaces are all amongst the very best. We have changed the reputation, not just of the Council, but of Hackney itself. Bringing jobs and investment into the borough, securing the legacy from the 2012 Games, and making this a place of which we can all be proud.
