We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Planner with effective and strong leadership skills to support the Director of City Development and work collaboratively across City Development, motivating staff to deliver Exeter’s ambitions. You will need a strong track record in managing high performing teams, experience of working preferably in an urban context and specialising in Development Management.

You will be a planner with experience in development management, preferably in major developments. You will have experience in local government or the private sector in planning or a related work area. Recent and detailed experience of Community Infrastructure Levy legislation, collection and spending processes, and Section 106 Agreements is essential. You will have demonstrable experience of successfully leading and managing projects and staff.

Principal Officer – Ecology & Biodiversity
Permanent – Part Time (22.2 hours per week)
Salary: £39571-£41591 (Grade K) pro rata
You will be passionate about delivering environmental enhancement, ensuring that quality habitats and biodiversity are properly taken into account in schemes. You will be adept at interpreting plans and analysing reports, and working with other professionals and stakeholders, including giving advice to developers. You will have a degree or other recognised qualification relating to ecology and biodiversity and ideally be a member of CIEEM.

You will have substantial post-qualification in urban design and/or landscape work. You will have been involved in delivering good placemaking or environmental enhancement schemes, and can demonstrate how you contributed. You will have good project management skills, and be able to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences.
