Planning Officer (Design)

The post holder would provide historic environment and conservation advice in the management, evaluation and negotiation of a wide range of planning and listed building applications and related matters, and where necessary formulate and articulate alternative design solutions. You will be passionate about securing the highest quality design in development proposals and would prepare guidance in respect of Urban Design, the historic environment, the built environment and related matters and to be involved in assisting the work of the Design team, the Planning & Development Division and the Department.

The post requires a degree in planning, urban design, building conservation, architecture or relevant subject or equivalent level of knowledge skills and experience and membership or eligibility for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute or other relevant professional body.

An effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, you will be IT literate with working knowledge of MS Office Suite.

A commitment to excellent customer services, a flexible approach to work and the ability to work to very strict deadlines are essential qualities for this role.
