Assistant Director Planning Performance (Development Management)

The post holder would assist in managing the Development Management team to ensure that the Department delivers a high quality, and well-regarded planning service that enables it to secure and provide for the Business City whilst balancing other environmental and land-use considerations and to identify best practice. The role would have delegated responsibility for determining planning applications and making recommendations and presenting to the Planning & Transportation Committee. You will lead and manage Officers within Development Management in dealing with all aspects of planning applications and related matters in the City including consideration of and recommendations for planning permission and listed building consent and to manage the Planning Administration function.

The post requires a degree or equivalent in Town Planning or a related discipline along with proven working experience and membership or eligibility for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute or other relevant professional body.

An effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, you will be IT literate with working knowledge of MS Office Suite.

A commitment to excellent customer services, a flexible approach to work and the ability to work to very strict deadlines are essential qualities for this role.
