Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is seeking visionary and ambitious planners, who really want to reinterpret the ideals of the Garden City.  As part of this vision for the future, we have a great opportunity for a Planning Policy Officer.

As a place to live and work, Welwyn Hatfield has lots to offer. In this career graded role, we are encouraging a range of planning professionals at all levels, whether new to planning or with significant experience to consider joining our team.

As a key member of the Planning Policy Team, you’ll help to deliver the policies and allocations in the Plan and develop further guidance to ensure our goals are delivered. This is an exciting opportunity to immediately immerse yourself in complex and varied work, using your planning knowledge to really make a difference. We’re looking for someone with an enthusiasm for developing planning policy and a degree in planning or a related subject. You’ll also be at ease liaising with members of the public and be able to provide clear, comprehensive advice. Strong written and verbal communication skills are therefore essential. If you are currently considering your future career options in planning, this career graded role could be a great place for you to start.

About You

As a minimum requirement, you must already hold a planning degree or a degree in a relevant subject with experience of working in planning.
