Job Details

Croydon is an exciting London location to plan for with the largest metropolitan centre outside the city of London around East Croydon station where significant change is occurring.  However, the borough has a range of characteristics from inner London, suburban to Green Belt that provide variety in planning policy terms.   Croydon believes in being a Plan Led authority and has a fairly recently adopted 2018 Local Plan.  With the publication of the London Plan in March 2021 the department is well advanced in a partial review of the Local Plan, bringing it in line with the London Plan.  Often regarded as the most immersive and interesting phase of Local Plan production the submission and examination is the next phase. As the leading officer delivering this important corporate objective this is an opportunity for an ambitious person to step into this role helping to plan for new homes new homes, jobs, services and infrastructure to support growth over the next 20 years. All of this will need to be balanced against ensuring Croydon continues to be a great place to live and work.

After the Local Plan review is found sound additional guidance and master planning that supports the emerging Local Plan will need to be produced that will demonstrate the objectives of the Local Plan being delivered.

As Deputy Team Leader (Plan Making) you will be at the heart of planning policy in Croydon, project managing the Local Plan review; as well as supporting a range of other projects. To do this you’ll be assisted by an award winning team of Planners, Urban Designers and Landscape Architects.
Are you up for the challenge?

Closing Date: 30th May 2022
