The Senior Specialist in Development Management will play a key role in supporting the Head of Development Management to deliver an effective Development Management service which seeks to conserve and enhance the natural and built environment across South Hams District and West Devon Borough Councils, making a positive difference to local places, businesses and residents across the district/borough.
You will take the lead on major development proposals in the area in addition to carrying a caseload of a range of planning applications and will be required to assess and make decisions and recommendations on each including agreeing and documenting Section 106 Agreements. You will work closely with other Specialists and Case Managers, as well as key stakeholders such as elected Members, residents, applicants, agents and developers to establish strong working relationships to enhance service provision.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), with excellent detailed knowledge of planning legislation, national planning policy and planning reforms. You will have strong communication and negotiation skills, have a proactive approach to work and will be committed to providing excellent customer service.
