About The Organisation
Our client protects the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of a National Park in Wales.
They are currently looking for a Planning Officer to join them on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours a week.

Working alongside famous mountains, iconic coastlines and wonderful wildlife, you will have the opportunity to protect and ensure the continued development of our client’s stunning Park.
The Role
As a Planning Officer, you will apply your understanding of planning procedures in a rural, protected landscape to a range of development management duties.
In this role, you will provide pre-application advice to all planning enquiries through our client’s service, providing responses in line with statutory guidance.
Additionally, you will process planning applications, assessing them against policy guidelines and material considerations, whilst negotiating amendments to submissions as appropriate.
Crucially, you will prepare recommendations for applications according to our client’s delegation scheme, including the drafting of necessary conditions and reasons for refusal.
Additionally, you will:
- Liaise with the Compliance Team concerning breaches of planning control
- Process other categories of applications, such as applications under the Advertisement Regulations or lawful use certificates
- Prepare appeal statements for written representations, informal hearings and public enquiry appeals
About You
To be considered a Planning Officer, you will need:
- Fluency in both Welsh and English
- Experience of preparing reports and statements
- Experience of planning and/or development management
- At least student membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (support will be given to obtain RTPI membership)
- The ability to read and understand building plans
- Good IT skills
- Excellent communication skills
- A full, valid driving licence with access to a vehicle
Ideally, you will have experience of development management in a rural area and an appreciation of the planning issues affecting National Parks.
It would also be beneficial to have the ability to use GIS software applications.
