Town Planning Consultant
My client is a multidisciplinary environmental and engineering company whose well-established development planning practice currently has a requirement for a talented Town Planner to join their Birmingham team!
The team provide a wide range of town planning services to public and private sector clients with an ever-expanding portfolio of projects centred on the promotion and delivery of major urban extensions and garden communities comprising thousands of new homes.
This role presents an excellent opportunity to make a difference at a strategic scale working with nationally recognised clients, not least The Crown Estate, Defence Infrastructure Organisation, Duchy of Lancaster, and a portfolio of major housebuilders and developers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Contribute to and lead the delivery of strategic mixed-use urban extensions, garden communities and major planning applications for high profile clients
- Use your skills and experience to deliver success, representing clients through the plan making process, providing sound technical and strategy advice, and taking responsibility for the delivery of high-quality outputs, policy submissions and planning applications
- Keep abreast of emerging best practice, guidance, and legislative changes within town planning, to help raise our profile through networking and use of social media, and actively maintain your own professional development
- Help support and mentor junior staff
Candidate Requirements:
To build on successes and help deliver an established project portfolio, we are seeking an experienced town planner with a track record within the property sector. The ability to identify, develop and progress complex planning and development projects for strategic landowners and developers within both the public and private sectors is essential.
- RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or relevant field of study.
- Significant professional experience in the private sector.
- Confident and persuasive with excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Previous experience in managing planning applications (from small to large sized projects) and working with multi-disciplinary project teams to tight deadlines and strictly defined budgets.
Why apply?
For the ideal candidate my client is happy to offer a competitive starting salary as well as a generous accompanying benefits package that includes car allowance!
