We are looking for two experienced town planners with a proven track record to join our team. As a town planner you’ll understand the importance of the railway to sustainable development, and to achieving the Scottish Government’s ambitious plans to decarbonise Scotland's Railway by 2035.

You will:

  • work closely with project teams, in the delivery of advice, planning and heritage consents, permitted development use and planning policy consultations to enable railway development;
  • provide advice on complex and sensitive projects affecting the large number of listed buildings and structures in our ownership; and 
  • support one of the country’s largest land and property owners to generate sustainable income to reinvest it into our rail infrastructure.

As well as meeting the essential requirements of professional qualifications and experience; we are looking for someone who:

  • Enthusiastic
  • Customer focussed
  • Able to manage a varied workload in an environment where there is rarely a typical day.  

What you will bring to the role: -

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent ideally in a relevant town planning qualification.
  • Be MRTPI or MRICS qualified or eligible for the RTPI or RICS licentiate scheme
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills

In addition to the above, for this specific role you will also require: -

  • Demonstrable town planning experience

It’s desirable if you have it to help give you context to the role: -

  • Understanding of heritage legislation and issues
  • Understanding of environmental legislation and issues
  • Full Driving Licence

Salary: Starting at £40,107 and rising to £45,120 per annum
