Penguin Recruitment is pleased to be working with a recognised leader in the development sector on the hire of a Senior Town Planner!
Our client is one of the UK's leading housebuilders operating from over 30 offices and builds around 15,000 new homes each year. The successful Planner will support the work of the Planning & Land team in the busy office, where your input can be seen from the start of a site through to site development.
Duties/Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a program of planning promotion and planning submissions and will take a leading role in the formulation and submission of planning applications both large and small including the discharge of planning conditions. The candidate will be expected to negotiate new and also vary existing s106 agreements.
Alongside this, you will assist the team in identifying and assessing short-term and strategic land opportunities and will play a key role in new site purchases. The job will include commissioning, coordination and organisation of information from external consultants alongside internal departments to facilitate obtaining viable deliverable planning permissions and site purchase.
Appraisal of planning policy documents and local plan submissions for the promotion of strategic development opportunities through the planning system will also be required. With support from the wider team, you will be given the experience of working within a Major National House Builder delivering residential developments across Lancashire and Cumbria.
Requirements
The position requires an enthusiastic, hardworking individual who is willing to show their initiative working as part of a small team in a busy commercial office. Professional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills are essential. The application requires a good level of computer literacy and an awareness of the current and emerging planning legislation. The successful candidate will have an RTPI accredited degree or masters course and be a member of the RTPI. A full driving license is essential.
