Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in the South West in their search for a Planning Enforcement Officer to join their Town Planning Department. This will be offered on an initial 6-month contract, then rolling.
A requirement has arisen for an experienced Planning Enforcement Officer to help with a backlog of enforcement cases.
The main task will be:
·To undertake a review of the current backlog of enforcement cases and to make a recommendation of an intended course of action on each.
·To investigate complaints regarding unauthorised development and recommend/undertake enforcement action as appropriate.
The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of experience dealing with planning enforcement in a local authority setting, have the ability to communicate advice clearly and effectively, and be able to demonstrate evidence of effective negotiation and resolution of planning enforcement cases
Our client is willing to offer a flexible working situation, with an expectation of site visits as and when required.

It would be beneficial to have a relevant degree or equivalent qualification in town planning and be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
