Two exciting opportunities have arisen to work in our friendly and busy Planning Policy team. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to fulfil both a Principal and Senior Policy Planner role, with the exciting opportunity to have an important influence in preparing a new Local Plan.
Both roles will involve working on large scale development projects, including new settlements, as well implementing radical plans to address climate change. East Hampshire District Council have ambitious proposals to cut carbon emissions and help the district reduce its impact on the environment.
The new Local Plan will be a ‘Greenprint’ for the district, setting new, higher standards on sustainable housebuilding and empower us to demand developers to meet those standards. We need to meet the growing needs of the area, but we strive to do so in the most sustainable way, making the most of our more populous settlements such as the market town of Alton and the redevelopment of military land associated with Whitehill & Bordon, but also making sure our smaller villages keep pace with needs such as affordable housing.
Delivering a high-quality local plan starts with securing high-quality people. If you are an enthusiastic and ambitious Planner, passionate about delivering well-planned sustainable communities, you could be what we’re looking for to lead on various workstreams to create a sound evidence base to support the new local plan.
Candidates will need to be pro-active, delivery focused, innovative and adept in group working and problem solving. You will project manage the most significant workstreams, including those of a corporate priority, and report back to senior management and Council committees as necessary.
You will have a degree/post graduate qualification in planning or equivalent with eligibility for RTPI membership. You will also have demonstrable post-qualification experience in dealing with sensitive planning issues.
You will either already be a Principal or Senior Planner or an experienced planner who is ready to take the next step up and diversify your CV. A keen interest in the environment and climate change would be welcomed.
For an informal discussion please contact the Planning Policy Manager, Adam Harvey on 07341462872 or email@example.com
In return for your hard work and contribution, we can offer you a range of benefits including generous annual leave, flexi time, free parking, leisure centre discounts, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and more.
