By joining us as a Major Development Management Team Leader at Buckinghamshire Council, not only will you be offered a competitive benefits package, you'll also be part of a new team working on a broad range of projects, committed to shaping the future of Buckinghamshire for generations to come.

It's a great time to join one of our teams. As part of the Planning, Growth and Sustainability function you will not only get to help shape the future of Buckinghamshire; you'll also be involved in delivering high-profile development projects focused on efficient delivery of major and strategic planning application and infrastructure projects. You will support us to deliver the results to help our businesses and residents thrive.

About the role

As a Major Development Management Team Leader, you'll be responsible for managing and developing a team of technical staff within Development Management. You will be committed to promoting career development and demonstrating a best practice approach within the planning team. You will supply expert planning advice and statutory services to meet the outcomes of the Planning and Environment Service Business Plan, ensuring the provision of an effective, consistent, and high-quality service that is responsive to customer demands.

You'll work proactively with the Development Manager/Major Development Manager and other team leaders in the Planning & Environment service to help shape our planning service, implement changes and be committed to continuous improvements to service delivery.

Our transformation to a unitary council is already creating diverse and multi-disciplined opportunities across the service, and we are excited to see what is to come for our new service.

Career development is something we take seriously at Bucks; we love nothing more than seeing our colleagues grow with us, with many members of the team progressing quickly as they gain more experience and responsibilities within their specialist areas. We are committed to building an exceptional Development Management Team, utilising our colleagues' talent, and making the most of what they have to offer.

Sarah Armstrong, Major Development Team Leader said: "I have worked for the Council in several roles for more than 10 years. I moved to a Team Leader role in the new Council and have been working in the North and Central areas of Buckinghamshire for a year and a half. Latterly I have been leading one of the team's in major development which means building a new integrated majors team for our new organisation in an area of significant growth and this has both its challenges and rewards. However, we have a vision that I have helped to develop and we are steadily working towards it, that journey will take a while but it will, undoubtedly, be an interesting and stimulating one. The major team leader role will be pivotal in delivering high quality development throughout Buckinghamshire and it will be an exciting period ahead for us!"

With a strong and supportive senior management team behind you, you'll play a key part in helping us achieve our Planning and Environment Business plan and assist in driving forward our vision as a new unitary authority.
