High Peak Borough Council and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council have a long running and successful shared service. Both Councils are forward thinking and committed to shaping the future to support economic growth and sustainable development to protect and enhance the historic environment through strong performance and customer focussed services.

This is an exciting time to be joining us. As a Conservation officer within our Development Services team, you will be dealing with a varied caseload from responding to consultation requests to developing and updating policy documents, as well as assisting in the delivery of the Buxton High Street Action Zone in conjunction with Historic England.

The Alliance is nationally recognised for its heritage regeneration programme and works closely with the Peak District National Park Authority. Across the Alliance area we have over 1400 Listed Buildings, 48 Conservation Areas and 5 Registered Parks and Gardens ranging from traditional farmsteads, to historic mills and industrial heritage to the fine Georgian and Victorian spa town architecture of Buxton.

You will work closely with the planning enforcement, legal services and building control teams to improve joint working opportunities and tackle un-authorised works and buildings at risk. There will be a need to support the implementation of the Council’s ‘Open for Business’ approach and demonstrate a can do attitude to build relationships with businesses and communities.
