Principal Planning Officer – Development Management

1 x Permanent Opportunity and 1 x Fixed Term Contract for 2 years

Full-time: 37 hours per week
Salary:  £40,669 to £47,018 per annum, inclusive of London Fringe Weighting

Situated in West Hertfordshire, the Borough of Dacorum is composed of the main towns of Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted and Tring, with large areas of Green Belt and Outstanding Natural Beauty, historic settlements and buildings.

We have two exciting opportunities for candidates to join us as a Principal Planning Officer in Development Management, one permanent, and a two year fixed term contract. The successful candidates will lead on and be responsible for the efficient delivery of major and strategic planning applications and the more complex minor applications.  The successful candidate will also support the Team Leader in management of the team, and assist with delegated decision.   

We are a busy and ambitious planning department, dealing with a high level of major planning applications. We also receive exciting and challenging applications in our rural areas, within the Green Belt which makes us one of the busiest planning authorities in the county.

We would welcome experienced officers knowledgeable in the field of Development Management. A successful applicant would require a degree level standard of education, and be eligible for full membership of the RTPI.

The successful candidate must be motivated, enthusiastic and reliable. Customer service, quality and efficient ways of working are our key priorities as well as growing our positive and professional team.

Applicants must have a driving licence which is valid in the UK and use of a vehicle.
