Design & Conservation Officer

One of London's most architecturally diverse borough councils renowned for its acclaimed historic character and progressive new development have a requirement for a Design & Conservation Officer.

This borough is currently undergoing extensive regeneration and growth with a strong desire to sensitively integrate new development whilst maintaining its historic character and heritage assets within the built environment some which dates back to the 1750’s.

You will work in a vibrant team managing a listed building caseload and commenting on new development applications in historic areas.

Key responsibilities:
 

• Assist with and management of a diverse listed building caseload
• Comment and provide observations on new and major development projects in historic areas.
• Assist with updating the local listed buildings register.
• Undertake site visits and photograph historic buildings and areas as a record of the borough's heritage assets.
• Advise planning enforcement team on listed building breaches

Successful candidates will have an academic qualification in Historic Architecture or Buildings with practical experience as a Conservation Officer managing a listed building caseload at a UK local authority or consultancy.

In addition, you will be a strong analytical eye, natural passion for the historic built environment, team player with exemplary written and verbal communication skills.
