The head of planning and building is an exciting role managing a key service within the beautiful Test Valley area, which provides a diverse mix of urban and rural planning matters. It is an area rich in natural and built heritage that requires expert skills and sensitive handling and offers major development areas as well as internationally designated and protected sites. And if that wasn’t enough, you’ll help to steer the organisation and develop your leadership potential as part of the council’s top management team. The ability to collaborate and build relationships quickly as well as keeping your team motivated and on track are essential.

You’ll be joining us at an exciting time as we have really big ambitions. We are proud of our track record in delivering housing and affordable housing in excess of our required housing delivery target and we are an outstanding performer in this area. Wider priorities include transforming our main town centres of Andover and Romsey, tackling the climate emergency and developing new ways of agile working.
