An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Planning Officer within a Planning Authority with a strong performance ethos and ambitious targets for over 30,000 houses in the new Plan period. This role provides the perfect opportunity for you to progress your planning career and skills on a wide range of exciting planning applications. We offer modern flexible and hybrid working arrangements, a supportive team environment and will pay for your RTPI membership.

We are looking for talented individuals with a passion for planning and shaping places that will help us deliver high quality developments throughout the Borough. The nature of the job requires excellent written, verbal communication and negotiation skills.

All candidates will need to have a relevant degree, and ideally be working towards, or have secured, chartered membership of the RTPI. You will be expected to demonstrate experience and knowledge of working in a Development Management service.

Experience of managing a caseload, which includes major and complex pre-application enquires and planning applications, will be essential. You will need to be able to deliver a high-quality service and negotiate the best possible development outcomes in a positive and solutions-led manner. The post holder will have responsibility for establishing excellent working relationships with developers through drafting, and project managing Planning Performance Agreements to achieve agreed project timeframes and budgets.

Please note that we are currently out to formal consultation to review existing allowances that some staff receive. Allowances offered may be subject to change depending on the outcome of formal consultation.
