As a Planning Officer working in Development Management your main responsibilities will involve managing a caseload of planning applications. The role involves undertaking site visits, report writing, advising members of the public, engaging with all stakeholders in the planning process, and providing pre-application advice to developers. You will collaborate with a wide range of planning professionals to achieve high quality development outcomes. Our Development Management team is at the heart of delivering high quality and sustainable development in Cheshire East. Our unique geography and heritage provide an unrivalled variety of planning experience, ranging from small scale rural schemes to urban regeneration and housing developments as well as strategic infrastructure projects.

Reporting to a Principal Planning Officer, you will have responsibility to manage your own caseload of planning applications. You will need good organisational, report writing, customer relationship and ICT skills. Knowledge of current planning policy and legislation alongside initiative and professional judgement will be required to assess and make decisions on a wide variety of planning applications. Mentoring and training is provided to meet your own personal development plan and our large planning team offers experience and opportunities for career progression.

You should be qualified to degree level within Planning or a related discipline and eligible for RTPI membership or working towards that goal. You must enjoy a challenge, be a self-motivated team player with a customer focus. Ability to travel throughout Cheshire East and a full UK driving license are required.
