Planning Officer/Planning Enquiry Officer

We are looking for a Planning Officer and a Planning Enquiry Officer to join our Development Management Team at Mole Valley District Council.   

The Development Management Service aims to deliver high quality decisions in a timely fashion to ensure that the high quality environment of Mole Valley is protected and enhanced.

Collaboration and sharing knowledge is key to our success and we encourage new team members to help us maintain our high performance while promoting new ideas, constantly looking for ways to improve our working practices.

The Planning Officer contributes to the work of the Development Management Team by taking ownership of a caseload including planning applications, planning enforcement matters and appeals, as the service requires.

You will be working in an area that is predominantly Green Belt and AONB, which introduces interesting challenges for decision makers. The urban areas include historic market towns and associated heritage issues, which pose a different set of thought provoking issues for decision makers.

  • You have a minimum of a degree in a related subject
  • You are a positive and motivated professional who will bring a strong work ethic and enthusiasm to the team

The Planning Enquiry Officer contributes to the work of the Planning Enforcement Team by taking ownership of investigations into alleged breaches of development management; working closely with the planning officers in the Enforcement Team to make sure unacceptable development is addressed as appropriate.

You will proactively supporting the Team Leader in providing an efficient and effective planning enforcement service to all customers in a timely manner.

  • You are educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English
  • You are an experienced investigator with a thorough understanding of criminal process, PACE and ideally an understanding of the development management regime
