About the job

Reporting to the Planning Policy and Implementation Manager and Principal Planner, you’ll have the opportunity to project manage and assist in the implementation of developments within Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield, both located in central Hertfordshire.

As the key member of the Welwyn Hatfield Policy Team, this position will be focused around working corporately across the organisation – assisting in the delivery of various corporate projects.

Crucial to your role will be the ability to deliver planning outcomes set out in the policies and guidance that you will have had a hand in shaping. It is essential that you have the ability to analyse and interpret complex information from different disciplines, as well as confidently understand policies, guidance and evidence from multiple sources in order to identify and justify an appropriate course of action.

In addition, you’ll have great communication skills, as you’ll need to be able to maintain relationships with stakeholders and junior staff members and effectively negotiate in council meetings.
