Principal Planning Officer

Our client is a busy local authority in Bedfordshire with a very active regen and development programme.

They are looking for a Principal Planner to join their Development Management Team and take on a caseload of major applications, primarily residential allocated sites, to include reserved matters and negotiations on section 106 agreements.

To apply for this role you must be a qualified planning officer with at least 7 years of Development Management experience, which includes working on complex minor applications and small major applications as lead officer. An understanding of s106 agreements and viability negotiations is also required.

Candidates are expected to undertake their own site visits and erect their own site notices; which means having access to their own car and travelling to the borough to undertake those tasks as required. A laptop will be provided for working from home; however candidates can work from the council offices if preferred. Attendance at team meetings (which are held every Tuesday via Teams) to discuss applications is required.

The contract will initially be offered for 3 months but could be extended. The rate offered will depend on your experience but it will be between £50-£60/hr and this role is inside IR35.
