Job Details
Osborne Richardson has an excellent opportunity for an Interim Head of Energy & Carbon Management to join a local Authority in the East London, and provide strategic leadership for the Council's Energy Management function.
You will lead on the following:
* the development and management of our client's Energy Strategy and Policies related to utilities within the Council, including procurement and consumption across the Council's civic and residential estates
* the design, delivery, and management of the Council's Low Carbon Energy Infrastructure programme and projects
* The Council's energy infrastructure portfolio to ensure delivery of energy capital projects; including decentralised energy and grow our energy efficiency work
* Take responsibility for providing specific expertise on energy and carbon management, ensuring that officers of the Council are well informed on latest developments in this regard
You will be responsible for coordinating identified Programme work streams, supporting the delivery of short, medium and long term priorities set out within these programmes. You will manage a portfolio of commissioning activity across the Programme, analysing performance, querying variances from plans or targets, raising performance issues and pursuing actions to recover performance. You will also be required to work with members of the Governance Boards to embed the Council's Carbon Reduction Plan and principles, identifying and addressing strategic issues affecting the delivery of climate change action.
The successful candidate will need a relevant degree level qualification and have detailed knowledge and understanding of environmental sustainability and climate change issues. You must have significant experience in leading a Sustainability agenda, experience of delivering key projects and experience of leading, motivating and managing multidisciplinary teams. It is essential that you have significant experience in local government and proven experience of successful programme/project management within in a political environment
The rate offered is dependant on your experience but will be circa £400-£500/day and this role is inside IR35. There could be room to negotiate depending on your experience. This role will initially be offered as a 3 month contract.
