We are seeking to appoint a planning policy officer who is looking for an opportunity to join our organisation at what is both an exciting and crucial time for the District. Located at the heart of the National Forest, with a wealth of historic buildings and pleasant countryside, South Derbyshire is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. Our planning policies will need to balance the requirement for new homes and employment with protection of those qualities that make the area such a desirable place to live, work and invest.
The successful candidate will join us as we embark on a local plan review and wider strategy formulation, cooperating across boundaries with our partners, working in accordance with the revised NPPF. A significant part of this work will involve the coordination of all stages of Sustainability Appraisal and Strategic Environmental Assessments.
We are looking for a flexible and creative planning professional with excellent communication skills who can contribute to a small but enthusiastic team of planning policy officers. A commitment to continuous improvement of service delivery and partnership working will be essential. You will ideally be an MRTPI qualified town planner with sound post qualification experience of policy formulation and implementation.
