We are looking for a dedicated and highly motivated planning professional to lead the Countryside Service's Planning Unit

You can expect to deal with a wide range of planning applications and negotiations to mitigate the effect on the County's countryside estate. You will shape policy, protect sites when needed, seek partnerships with local planning authorities and opportunities from developments.

Hampshire County Council's Countryside Service is one of the largest in the country, the county encompasses 11 local planning authorities, with high levels of development pressure and extensive protected landscapes, including both the New Forest and South Downs National Parks.

The successful candidate will already have some experience of team supervision and working as a development management planning officer, with excellent communication and negotiation skills. If you meet this criteria and you have a degree (or equivalent) in planning, and membership (or are currently working towards full membership) of the Royal Town Planning Institute, then we would love to hear from you.

The role requires a driving licence and is based at our offices in Winchester, with home-based hybrid working being facilitated.

The Service inspires people to connect with and enjoy the countryside, while making space for nature to thrive. We protect and conserve Hampshire's indigenous wildlife and its rich heritage through our nature recovery initiatives. We are passionate about what we do and strive to be forward-thinking and dynamic, leading the way in countryside management.
