Principal Policy Planner (100% Home Working)

One of London's most progressive borough councils has an exceptional opportunity for a Principal Policy Planner.

You will play a lead role assisting with the development, preparation and revision of the borough's Local Plan progressing key documents through to Examination in Public and eventual adoption.

This will encompass reviewing and updating existing Local Plan documents in conjunction with thematic policy areas encompassing housing, employment land and demographic trends.

You will also update and coordinate key stakeholders, multi-disciplinary teams to deliver robust planning policy frameworks to facilitate the continued growth, investment and development of one of London's most vibrant areas.

A key component of this post will be to assist with;
 

• Preparation, review and development of the councils Local Plan and affiliated thematic policy areas
• Draft technical planning policy documents in conjunction with updating and revising existing documents.
• Prepare statutory and non-statutory supporting documents
• Progress Local Plan policies through all relevant informal and statutory procedures
• Manage, appoint and coordinate the work of external consultants
• Conduct member briefings
• Coordinating extensive consultation exercises through liaison with community groups and strategic partners etc.
• Review and update existing evidence base and policy documents to maximise the effectiveness of the councils Local Plan and emerging policies.
• Appear and represent council at examination when necessary
• Provide detailed policy comments for large scale development applications.

Successful candidates will have acquired practical experience as a Senior or Principal Policy Planner working on the delivery and implementation of Local Plan policies.

Furthermore, you will be adept at drafting Local Plan documents with exemplary written and verbal communication skills.
