Description

Project Delivery Support Officer Role in Tower Hamlets

Tower Hamlets is a vibrant inner London borough, a place of great opportunities for all. Over the centuries, the borough has been a focal point for London and the UK, acting as a key trading route to the east from Central London. Today Tower Hamlets has grown into a world-class hub for financial, technological and creative industries, with the potential to become the setting for exciting innovations and advances in the twenty-first century.

In recent years Tower Hamlets witnessed the fastest population growth of any local authority in England and Wales, particularly among the working-age population making it one of the most densely populated boroughs in the UK. Alongside being home to the global financial centre of Canary Wharf, parts of the borough still has high levels of deprivation, and its evergrowing population is placing increasing pressure on local services and resources, including the use of land.

In 2019 the Council took a strategic approach to regeneration which ensures Tower Hamlets embraces its role as a key focus for London’s growth. We aim to make the best use of the economic benefits provided by a thriving enterprise sector and existing and new connections with surrounding areas. The benefits will be shared throughout the borough, amongst all residents, so that everyone has access to the opportunities derived through growth. This vision is reflected in the newly adopted Tower Hamlets Local Plan policies and followed by establishing a new Regeneration Team to lead the Council’s ambitious plans for regeneration in the borough.

The Regeneration Team is working towards delivering eight regeneration outcomes:

improving infrastructure & placemaking; reducing inequalities & enhancing wellbeing; making communities safer and more cohesive; improving public realm and environment; facilitating affordable housing provision; ensuring opportunities for employment and developing businesses; supporting town centres and markets’ vibrancy. The service works across the Council’s teams, within the matrix management structure and genuine partnership relationships. The range of activities of the team is wide: from managing governance structures through project development to building partnerships with local communities, businesses and pan-London and national organisations.

The Regeneration Team is seeking a dynamic, highly capable individual with a strong track record of successful project delivery and relationship building to join a fast paced, focussed and dedicated team of professionals.

Do you have ambition, creativity and commitment to our values to help us achieve the best for the communities of Tower Hamlets? Do you want to apply your skills to make a tangible difference to the look and feel of our borough? Can you “talk a good talk” and negotiate a great deal for the benefit of our residents? Are you able to put your ideas down in words, maps or images and communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders? If so, we want to hear from you.

We are part of one of the world’s greatest cities – but more than this we believe that with our potential for growth, we are the future of London.

The position being recruited for is:

1 x Project Delivery Support Officer – Salary £33,162 to £39,541
