Following continued growth and commercial success – Parker Planning Services are looking to expand their team and add a Planner or Senior planner to be based in either the Suffolk or Cambridgeshire teams.

None of our team were furloughed, given pay cuts or made redundant during the Coronavirus epidemic and we have grown in size.  This is due to the strength of our team, client base and strong financial business plan.  

We are a highly experienced and competent team on the lookout for good people to join us.   Many planners within the company come from Local Planning Authority backgrounds, as well as the private sector.

The successful candidate will work on a broad range of planning projects, which would be mainly located in Suffolk or Cambridgeshire as well as occasional projects further afield across the UK.

In addition to our planning teams across the East of England, we also have in house specialists including; heritage, archaeology, land surveying, ecology, landscape and other specialist services which means that we work on a wide range of interesting projects and have the in house specialists to work alongside with.

Location of the Role:

The role is to be based in either our Suffolk Office (Bury St Edmunds), or Cambridgeshire Office (Milton).  Both offices are within prestigious buildings with excellent transport links and free on-site parking available if required.

Flexible Working: This post is open to reduced working hours for the right candidate. There is also the option for home-working on occasion.

Requirements:

For the Assistant/Graduate Planner or Planner Role:

  • You would have (or soon to have) completed a relevant planning qualification which is accredited by the RTPI (Royal Town Planning Institute)
  • You may have some relevant experience (depending on the level of experience will depend on whether the appointment is for the assistant planner or planner role)

For the Senior Planner Role:

  • You will either be a chartered member of the RTPI or eligible for Chartered Status
  • You will have a number of years of experience, at least 6 years, dealing with a variety of projects and ideally have some private sector experience

What the role will involve:

The level of projects and expectations will vary depending on the level of the role of the successful candidate, but would largely involve:

  • Being involved with a wide variety of projects, whilst being supported by colleagues, working as part of a team
  • Undertaking initial assessments of sites and enquiries
  • Preparing Fee Quotes
  • Prepare and submit reports and statements and carry out on-going negotiations for planning applications and appeals – large and small, and of varying complexity
  • Manage all other planning matters associated with all stages of the planning process
  • Develop on-going client relationships and co-ordinate specialist services relating to your projects
  • Working with the wider Planning Team, wider support team, both in your main office, and across the wider company
  • Maintaining and updating accurate records and timesheets

The Company:

In each office – our teams are led and supported by the Principal Planning Manager with the support of the Managing Director, who oversees all company operations.   A range of specialist consultants are based across our offices.
