Job Details



Our client, a local authority, is looking for a Planning officer to join them on a contract basis to process minor applications, householders and small minor aplications.

Key tasks and accountabilities


To assist with senior officers working on all types of Development Management projects, Planning Strategy and Planning Enforcement/Appeals tasks as necessary including pre-application, application, enforcement and appeal work.


To be able to work cooperatively with other planning officers, applicants, developers, landowners and other interested parties to ensure excellent outcomes in terms of planning applications and pre-application discussions.

Have a knowledge base of planning and an ability learn whilst working within the service.


To participate with other officers within the planning and economic development service on corporate projects and external cross authority (and wider) groups as required.

To prepare and present written or oral reports and briefings for, Planning Committees, Members and other bodies, and to attend meetings with Members as necessary.

The role is fully remote for now and hybrid working arrangements will be offered from November.
