LB Haringey
Head of Development Management & Enforcement
Salary: £74,000 – £86,600
Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent

At Haringey, we’re led by ideas – like our recent Your Bike project, which brings together young people eager to get into mechanics and cycling instruction. Or our new, state-of-the-art Tailoring Academy, which helps 100s of young people kick-start their fashion careers. Even simple things such as moving our principal buildings to a 100% renewable energy supplier.

We know that ideas can change the way we deliver our services and make positive, practical impacts on the lives of our residents. That’s why we’re building a community full of energy and creativity, whichever department you work in. If you’re ideas-driven and want to do Haringey proud, this is the place to be.

We are looking for a Head of Development Management & Enforcement that will provide leadership across 4 teams: Strategic Applications, East, West and Enforcement & Appeals Teams. You will be part of the Senior Management Team for the Planning, Building, Standards and Sustainability division.

You will shape new development across the borough, leading on the determination of planning applications, pre-application advice, planning enforcement, and working closely with the Planning Sub Committee. You will play a key role in influencing major development and place-making across the borough, in the regeneration areas of Wood Green and Tottenham and working on the Council’s own projects and Council house building programme.

We are looking for someone with deep and detailed knowledge in the field of town and country planning with a degree level or equivalent qualification in planning. You will have excellent communication skills and an ability to lead negotiations on complex and complicated matters. You will have a track record of managing a service, supporting and developing people, managing budgets and raising income.

Working here isn’t just about the sense of fulfilment you’ll get from your work – Haringey the place has a huge amount to offer. Not only do our fantastic transport connections mean we are just minutes away from central London, but there is also so much to do in the borough itself. Haringey buzzes with entertainment, attitude, artistic and cultural life – through its pubs, clubs, cinemas, theatres, arts centres, community groups and even festivals.

Everybody who works for Haringey Council helps to make our vision for an even better Haringey a reality. Our values – Human, Ambitious, Accountable and Professional – will help us to achieve our ambitions.
